messageHow do I Upload my Flash widgets?
I am trying to post a flash widget to the library, but for some reason when I submit the direct URL to grab the widget from, it doesn't display at all. There's also no place to post embed code for the widget, nor do I know how to set the Parameters values to match the embed code.

Here's the direct URL for the widget where you can view it and the embed code: [changents.com]

Please advise the best way to upload this widget.

Thanks for writing! To submit your Flash widget to the gallery, you may opt for one of the following:

To upload a Flash widget (recommended):
1. Log in to Widgipedia
2. Click the "Submit a widget" button
3. On the left hand side of the upload panel, fill in the Title, Version, Tags, Description fields and select a thumbnail file for your widget
4. On the right hand side of the upload panel, select the Web Platforms > Flash (Windows, Mac, Linux) tab, check the "Upload widget to Widgipedia" option, click the "Browse" button and select your swf file
5. Click the "Submit" button

To link to a Flash widget on an external URL:
1. Log in to Widgipedia
2. Click the "Submit a widget" button
3. On the left hand side of the upload panel, fill in the Title, Version, Tags, Description fields and select a thumbnail file for your widget
4. On the right hand side of the upload panel, select the Web Platforms > Flash (Windows, Mac, Linux) tab, check the "Specify external widget URL" option and fill in the URL to your SWF file (in this case, http://changents.com/widget/andreabakacs/Widget.swf).
5. Click the "Submit" button

To link to a web page containing your widget:
1. Log in to Widgipedia
2. Click the "Submit a widget" button
3. On the left hand side of the upload panel, fill in the Title, Version, Tags, Description fields and select a thumbnail file for your widget
4. On the right hand side of the upload panel, select the Web Platforms > DHTML (Windows, Mac, Linux) tab, check the "Specify external widget URL" option and fill in the URL to your web page (in this case, http://changents.com/widget/andreabakacs/index.php).
5. Click the "Submit" button

After you submit your widget, you can set the parameters as follows:

To set up the widget's parameters:
1. Log in to Widgipedia
2. Click the "My Widgets" link, locate your widget and make sure it is visible in the widget gallery
3. Click the "Parameters" button below your widget
4. Enter a default width and height. The widget should appear in the instant preview area on the right hand side of the parameters panel
5. If your widget accepts parameters (in the form of URL parameters, FlashVars or embed parameters), click on the "Add Parameter" button
5.1 Fill in the following details for each parameter:
Parameter Name - the name of the variable expected by your widget
Display Name - a user visible name for the parameter
Description - a user visible detailed description of the parameter
Parameter Style - choose from the available options
Parameter Type - select the way to send the parameter to your widget (by appending it to the widget's URL, by specifying it in the FlashVars variable or by specifying it as an embed/object tag property).
5.2 Click the "Save" button
5.3 Specify a default value for the parameter
6. Click the "Save" button to save all the parameters and their default values

messageRe: How do I Upload my Flash widgets?
Thank you so much for your quick response! I tried scenario 3 (DHTML one), and unfortunately it didn't work and I get a preview of the Widgipedia page header instead of the widget itself. Option #2 won't work (tried that) as for some reason when you point directly to the SWF file, you get an overlap of multiple widget layers from other widgets. Which leads me to believe that option#1 won't work? Please advise.

Hello,

While setting up your widget and its parameters, you need to let the option "Don't show this widget to other people" unchecked. If this option is checked, your preview will not work properly.

With this limitation, all scenarios should work fine for you.
