How about web widgets?
I'm a flash developer and I've done some web widgets that are in a way cross platform as the web itself. From flash I can make .exe files but only work on windows and not everybody trusts .exe (due to virus etc) so I preffer to continue with my web widgets.
Is there any way to add web widgets to the widgipedia?
smileys with beer cheers!

PD: you can see my web widgets here

Widgigreetings Ernesto,

Thanks for writing and cheers to you too smileys with beer!

May we say that you write some damn cool widgets! Yep, Flash widgets are coming soon, as part of our goal to host "the best widgets and gadgets across any platform". If you like, we can send you a note via email when this happens or, to make sure you won't miss them coming, you can subscribe to our blog (or check it out live at http://www.widgipedia.com/rss/blog/).

Meanwhile, if you have any suggestions coming from your experience as a Flash widgets developer, this is the right time and place to share them.

Your Widgipedia Team

If you are looking for some job finding widgets then you should go for the Simply Hired widget. This widget is based on the similar job search engine that is used at the simplyhired.com. It is good and has all the features that make job searching easier. It enables you to search the job of your own choice in any U.S. location.

How Can I Use a Web Widget?

If you read blogs, you have probably run across a lot of widgets without even knowing it. Have you ever seen a "bookmark this with del.icio.us" link under a blog entry? That's a web widget. Or, you might have seen a "Digg it" button. That's another web widget.

If you write on your own blog, web widgets can be used to provide additional functionality. For example, Feedburner is a website that allows people to sign up for your RSS feed. They provide a widget that you can put on your blog to help people sign up. YouTube also provides a widget, allowing you to make a playlist of your favorite videos. And these are just two among many widgets that can be used in conjunction with your blog.

What’s a widget? Different sites may call widgets gizmos, badges, or minis, but they’re all names for free Web applications that update automatically to add other sites’ content to your own. These widgets differ from those in Mac OS X’s Dashboard in that they live on the Internet, not on your Mac.

# I stuck specifically to Web-based widgets in my hunt. So, no desktop widgets, meaning a lot of great things from Apple are not here. I also went only for things that are not confined to a specific platform, like Facebook.
# I ruled out games, unless they were specifically educational in nature, productivity tools, and pure news feeds. That decision alone probably excludes 90% or more of the widgets our there. I also tended to stay away from widgets that are purely a miniature version of a Web site or a blog, though I let a few of these through.
