Hello,

I am a London based software developer and I think that I have the experience that you need. I have developed over 15 widgets using Yahoo! Widgets, Flash or Adobe AIR. I'd be happy to discuss with you what would be the best technology for your project.

The widgets I developed include RSS readers, calendars, clocks or, in general, widgets that interact with web services (such as Google Calendar or eBay). Please have a look at my portfolio for some examples:

Although I haven't worked yet with a government body, I do have experience working with departments of large organizations, as I worked with the UNESCO for two projects.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at:

Hi,

I'm looking to have a widget developed that works like this, if it's possible:

users anser a variety of multiple choice questions, i.e. "You would rather: a. go skydiving, b. go fishing, c. go shopping, d. go to bed"

After a series of questions, users are shown an image of their "perfect" earrings, and can then purchase them without having to leave their page.

Does this make sense? The site that contains the products is currently ASP but can be migrated to PHP and runs from an Access database, which can be converted to mysql, if it's easier.

Each item in the database will have various tags, etc, and based upon the user input from the quize a list of approximately 20 images will be a match, of which one product will be randomly selected as that user's "perfect" product.

Let me know if I'm being unclear here, it's a little difficult to explain in detail. Payment at your rate, hourly or by project, requires both Non-Disclosure and Non-compete to be signed in addition to standard contract.

If you're interested, send me an email @ tabitha (dot) fleming @ gmail (dot) com

There are 3 convenience providers that you can use in a flash widget to have your widget spread virally. They are:
1. ClearSpring's LaunchPad: http://www.clearspring.com/csmanager/setup/in-widget/advanced -- this is by far the best options, however, clearspring is now implementing their own stupid rules that will take over your widget and inject ads into it... If you are not willing to pay their fees, stay away
2. Gigya's Widlfire: http://www.clearspring.com/csmanager/setup/in-widget/advanced -- robust, easy, no payments, no nothing. selection is smaller than Clearspring, but then installation is easier.
3. Widgetbox Viral Installer: http://docs.widgetbox.com/developers/viral-installer/ -- easiest of the pack, prettiest but also super fresh, so i dunno about installation or how this thing works.

Hope this helps,
Felix.

Hello,

I run a video game website to which people can subscribe to play small online games like tetris, breakout games, etc. We record all the scores in our database and there is a top 20 of the best players.

We would like to make a small widget that would pull the data off our severs and display it in real time on the user desktop. Our users can type in their name and password and they will see the list of games they are registered too. When they click on one of the games, they'll get the top scores. On the bottom of the widget, we would also like a list of "suggested games" based on the games the user played. This data would be pulled from the server too.

How easy would it be to implement such a widget? It needs to be a desktop widget so we are thinking it could be done using Yahoo Widgets but we are open to suggestions. How much do you usually charge?

Thanks,

I am looking to have a widget designed and integrated into Wordpress.

I would like the widget to have sports betting lines similar to this widget: http://www.widgipedia.com/parameters/?cmd=customize&widget_id=339

I would also like to have the ability to allow people to embed my widget URL onto their website or desktop.

Please let me know if this is of interest to you.

I would like to be able to display the contents of an excel file in a widget. In particular, I need to be able to display a chart that sits in an excel worksheet in the widget. The chart should update dynamically whenever the data is edited in the spreadsheet that the chart references.

Needs to be Windows based (Yahoo for example).

Thanks,

[Web Widgets] Web Widget Deployment Query

Hi all,

I work for an online advertising agency, and we want to explore the possibilities of creating & deploying web widgets on our various client websites.

I checked the net & a few tutorials here, but I could only do a little research because of my schedule (really slammed up at the moment!). :(

Could someone explain me how to go about deploying a web widget after creating an application in Flash/HTML? Once I have created the app, do I need to approach a cross-platform widget distrubution provider like clearspring.com (that's just one I came to know of, any other popular ones?) so that they provide a menu/container to generate embed codes for sites/blogs? Am I missing anything here?

Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks & regards,
Nikhil.
